Join DB on Saturday, June 10th 2017 from 12-6pm at the 3rd annual “65 Roses” Crossfit Competition that benefits and donates all proceeds to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In its third year, this team event has quickly become one of the largest Crossfit and competitive fitness competition in the state of Utah. Every year, hundreds of athletes and spectators from all over Utah, along with dozens of local and corporate sponsors come together to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and to donate money to the foundation to help research a cure for this genetic disease.
From monetary donations, sponsors, silent auctions, and athlete registrations, in just two years, this event has raised and donated nearly $50,000 and the 2017 goal is to raise and donate $25,000+. For a grand total of $75,000 in 3 years!
Competition Details: In teams of two (1 male/ 1 female), athletes will compete through 3 events to test; strength, speed, and endurance in order to get a spot on the podium. There will be an elite division, as well a scaled division so that every level of athlete can participate in this competition.
Venue: We host this event at XCEL Fitness in Holladay Utah, which is over 50k square feet of open, modern gym space and home to the largest Crossfit Rogue Fitness rig in the state.
What is Cystic Fibrosis (CF): CF is a genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. Currently there is no cure for CF and the average life expectancy is 36yrs. The CF foundation is nonprofit & uses 90 cents of every dollar directly towards clinical research!
Who am I?: I'm just a Dad trying to make a difference. I have an 8yr old daughter (Drae) with Cystic Fibrosis, who since she was diagnosed at 4 weeks old, has done over 2 hours of breathing treatments every single day. Watching her battle this disease, as well meeting other CF parents and patients, and being an avid Crossfitter has inspired me and my family to put on this event to raise awareness while inviting the community to be involved as well. My family has a dream, that one day CF will stand for Cure Found!
In order to meet or exceed our 2017 fundraising goal, we need help spreading awareness of this event and to invite everyone (not just fitness enthusiasts) to join us on June 10th.
